College football scores are everywhere. Depth is not. CFB Vault gives all 266 Division I programs the same treatment, from the SEC to the SWAC, with full rosters, career stat lines, hometown maps and 59 years of NFL draft history.
Nothing. Free to download, free to use, no account, and no paywall on stats, rosters or history.
CFB Vault is an Android app, live now on Google Play. Free to download, no account needed. On iPhone? It is not on iPhone yet. Leave your email above and you will hear first if that changes.
Yes. Free to download and free to use, with no paywall on stats, rosters or history. The only ads are small banners for our own other sites and apps, with no ad network and no tracking. Everything you see listed as a feature will always be free.
All 138 FBS and 128 FCS programs, 266 in total, get full rosters, player statistics, schedules, draft history, program history and head coach. That includes all 21 Division I HBCU programs, the whole SWAC, the whole MEAC, plus Tennessee State, Hampton and North Carolina A&T, on exactly the same footing as Alabama. Division II and NAIA are not included, because rosters and statistics for those levels do not exist in any free data source, and a page with an empty roster would be worse than no page at all.
Live scores, schedules, rankings and headlines come from ESPN's public feed, fetched by the phone as they happen. Rosters, player statistics, venues and NFL draft results come from CollegeFootballData.com, an open college football data project. Program history, head coaches and NFL careers come from Wikipedia, used under a CC BY-SA license and credited inside the app on every screen where it appears.
No, and we won't fake it. High school information exists for recruited players and coverage is thinner at smaller programs. Where we don't have it, we leave it out rather than print "unknown." Hometown, though, is available for nearly every player.
Yes, and this is deliberate. All 266 rosters, every career line and every draft pick back to 1967 are stored on your phone, not fetched from a server. In a concrete concourse with no signal, or on a tower with a hundred thousand people on it, the app still opens and everything except the live parts, scores, live player stats and play by play, still works.
Only if you ask it to. On the Today screen you can switch on a game day plan, a note at 8 AM on days your teams, or players from your hometown, play. A second switch turns on live score alerts: touchdowns and field goals for your teams, close fourth quarters and upsets. Both are off until you turn them on.
Before kickoff it is a game preview: the countdown, win chances, season numbers for both teams and the players to watch. During a game it shows the score and clock, a live win chance chart, the latest plays and every scoring play. After the final whistle it becomes a report card.
Not yet. CFB Vault is Android only right now, free on Google Play, and it runs on any Android phone or tablet. If you're on iPhone, join the iPhone list and you'll be the first to know if an iPhone version comes out.
